Our Association

Paralegal Association/Permian Basin (PA/PB) was formally organized on February 9, 1985 as Legal Assistants Association/Permian Basin (LAA/PB). On November 16, 2005, the membership voted to change the name to Paralegal Association/Permian Basin (PA/PB), in keeping with the changes made by the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas. Our Association is affiliated with the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). It is nonsectarian, nonpartisan, nonprofit and nonunion. Every member shall subscribe to and be bound by the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility of NALA.

Goals and Purposes

  1. Promulgation or adoption of a Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility for paralegals.

  2. Cooperation with area schools and colleges offering paralegal programs.

  3. Cooperation with local, state and national bar associations and regional paralegal associations in setting standards for paralegals.

  4. Promotion of the profession of paralegals, education of the public for the advancement and improvement of the profession and broadening public understanding of the function of the paralegal.

  5. Informing its members through continuing legal education and providing a forum of exchange where members share experience, opinions and knowledge with peers.
